The Royal Monstrological Society is highly exclusive. Each year, the Society allows only one aspiring monstrologist to join its elite association. To be admitted to the circle of the most renowned monster experts in the entire Empire of Legends and Lore, applicants must present the most impressive and magnificent menageries of monstrous creatures.
Therefore, the competing candidates embark on expeditions to magical lands in search of the most exotic animals. A small financial stipend from the Society enables these adventures and the hiring of assistants. At the end of the fourth hunting season, the applicants finally present their collections. For this occasion, the Royal Monstrological Society convenes for an annual banquet better known as the Carnival of Monsters.
In the Carnival of Monsters draft card game, land cards are collected to capture the most extraordinary and exotic monsters. Ultimately, the player with the most spectacular menagerie wins. To achieve victory, talented employees are hired and secret objectives are pursued. Points are earned by achieving these objectives, collecting gold crowns, and, most importantly, returning safely with one's monsters.
Game Principle:
1. At the start of the game, each player receives 4 crowns and 2 starting countries. 4 season cards are randomly selected. The deck of cards (consisting of: country, monster, secret objective, staff, and event cards) is shuffled and placed on the game board.
2. Four seasons (rounds) are played. Each season consists of 4 phases.
3. Phase 1: The first season card is revealed. It indicates which types of monsters offer special rewards in the current round.
4. Phase 2: Each player receives eight cards. Each player chooses one and places it face down in front of them. The remaining cards are passed to the player on their left. After all players have chosen a card, it is either played or added to their hand, and any applicable costs are paid. This process is repeated...
5. Phase 3: The players check whether any dangerous monsters have been tamed. If a player cannot tame their monsters, they must pay a penalty.
6. Phase 4: The season ticket is evaluated. The player roster is cleared and the next season begins.
7. The winner is the player who has earned the most victory points through monsters and objective cards at the end of the fourth season.
